About this course

Your company holds a certificate to ISO 9001:2026, AS9100D, ISO 13485:2016, ISO 14001:2026 or another management system standard, and once a year someone with a clipboard walks the floor asking questions. This course explains what sits behind that certificate and what it has to do with your job.

You will learn who ISO is and what it does not do, what a management system actually is, the main standards you are likely to meet, the shared clause structure from 4 to 10 and the Plan-Do-Check-Act cycle that runs through all of them. You will fill in a turtle diagram for your own job, see how company objectives reach your bench as KPIs, and learn why you only ever work from the current revision of a document.

The course then explains certification in plain terms: certification bodies and accreditation, stage 1 and stage 2, surveillance and recertification, what a certificate does and does not mean, and the questions auditors ask operators, inspectors, buyers and office staff. You will learn how to answer honestly and well. The final module covers nonconformities, correction versus corrective action, continual improvement, and your role in audits and in raising problems.

The course closes with a 10-question examination drawn from a bank of 20. On passing you receive a PlanetISO Certificate of Completion with lifetime access to the course content. The certificate does not expire.

  • Describe the certification cycle, including certification bodies, accreditation, stage 1, stage 2, surveillance and recertification.
  • Answer an auditor's questions honestly, with the record, and know what to say when unsure.
