About this course
Internal audits are the organization's own early warning system. In aerospace they also decide how smoothly the certification body's 9101 audit goes. This course trains you to audit AS9100D the way certification body auditors do: by process, against the organization's own objectives, with objective evidence and clear nonconformity statements.
You start with the standard itself. Two modules walk through every clause of AS9100D with the aerospace additions, each paired with an auditor tip that tells you what to sample and what usually fails. You then learn auditing fundamentals and the audit process from planning to closing meeting.
A dedicated module applies these skills to the aerospace-specific trails: first article inspection records, counterfeit part controls, configuration management, foreign object debris, special processes and Nadcap, external provider control, product safety and human factors. You learn the process effectiveness scale from 9101 and how to use it internally.
The course finishes with nonconformity writing, root cause analysis, reporting and follow-up. The final examination draws 30 questions from a bank of 50 with a 75 percent pass mark. On passing you receive a PlanetISO Certificate of Completion, with lifetime access to the course and your certificate.
What you will be able to do
- Explain the requirements of AS9100D clause by clause, distinguishing the aerospace additions from the ISO 9001:2015 base.
- Plan a process-based internal audit programme using performance data, risk and previous results.
- Audit operational processes for conformity and effectiveness using the 9101 process effectiveness scale.
- Audit first article inspection, configuration management, traceability, counterfeit prevention, FOD and special process controls on real records.
- Audit external provider control, including flow-down of clause 8.4.3 requirements and delegated verification.
- Gather and record objective evidence through document review, interview and observation.
- Write nonconformity statements that cite the requirement and the evidence, and classify them.
- Evaluate root cause analysis, including human factors, and verify the effectiveness of corrective action.
